Preparation is the key to fabulous looking hair. The products that are used in the hair will help to hold the curls, keeping them in place for hours. Some of the things that will be needed are:

  • comb
  • curling iron
  • moisturizer
  • clip
  • Motions foam wrap
  • shampoo
  • conditioner
  • towel

Shampooing the Hair Before Curling

Begin by applying ample amount of shampoo to the hair. Work the shampoo into the hair roots with the fingertips. Gently massage it into the hair and the hair ends, then wash it out thoroughly with warm water. Apply more shampoo for a second wash, then rinse the hair with warm water.

Removing Excess Water From the Hair

Use a towel to remove excess water from the hair. Apply enough conditioner to saturate the hair. Hair Massage in the conditioner starting from the hair roots to the hair ends. Allow it to deep-condition the hair for at least 15 to 20 minutes. This will help to repair damaged and split ends. Use lukewarm water to rinse out the conditioner.

Blow Drying the Hair Before Curling it

Dry out the extra moisture from the hair using a towel, then blow dry the hair slightly. For the best outcome, the hair should be damp to help the curls set in place. Squeeze some of the Motions foam wrap into the palms and rub it into the hair evenly. Use a wide tooth comb to distribute the foam wrap throughout the hair. Prepare to hot curl the hair with a hair iron. Thinner texture hair will require less heat than coarser hair.

Applying Protection to the Hair

Separate a small section of the hair with a comb. Rub some of the thermal hair protector in the hair to protect it from damage during the curling process. Start by squeezing the handles of the curling iron to open it. Place the ends of a small section of the hair between the opening of the curling iron. Release the handles so that the hair will be clamped firmly. Hold the curling iron and make a twisting motion with the hair wrapped around it. Wrap the hair until the iron is about an inch away from the roots of the hair. Keep holding the curling iron until the heat moves through the hair and the curls start to set firmly.

Achieving Longer Lasting Curls

Squeeze the handles of the curling iron, then slowly unwind the hair when the heat is felt close to the scalp. Repeat these steps with each section of the hair until all the hair is curled. Do not comb out the curls. Allow the hair to cool, after which moisturizer can be massaged into the hair and roots. For fuller curls, flip the hair downward and use the fingertips to tease the hair roots, then flip the hair back up. The curls should look softer, lustrous and last much longer.
